Happy shiny story prize

Jul 8, 2013

plaqueYou may remember that I recently (and very happily) announced that my story, It’s Always the Children Who Suffer, won the Australian Horror Writers’ Association short story contest. I co-won, in fact, with Zena Shapter. As well as the story being published in a future issue of Midnight Echo Magazine (I’ll let you know which issue when I know) I also got a shiny plaque to hang on the wall. It’s very purdy. Things like this make all the hard work worthwhile and are a great reminder of why we struggle and strive all the time to improve and succeed.

I have framed images of my book covers on the study wall above my desk, to help remind me of my achievements in times of struggle and rejection. This baby is going right up on the wall next to them.
