And no, before anyone gets smart in the comments, not a bowel movement. More a movement in response to the season (which is a kind of bowel movement in itself). Christians are always bleating on about “Put the Christ back into Christmas!” I’m sick and tired of that.

Who’s with me? It makes just as much sense as the Christians harping on.
Anyway, here’s hoping that this season of manufactured madness doesn’t drive you all completely mental and I hope all readers of The Word have as happy a time as they can. May you all be safe and well and enjoy a happy, healthy and productive 2010.

you bet – i didnt look at FB for 2 days and came back to 180 status updates, most wishing a Merry Xmas etc – for no other reason than people have just been conditioned to do so – Im probably just a grumpy old fuck, but it actually puts me in a bad mood rather than fill me with ‘the Xmas spirit’ – Why be good to people just at Xmas – what, you can be an asshole for the other 51 weeks of the year can you?

Actually, I was thinking a good short story might be started about the ending of one of those wartime Xmas spirit stories. Seriously, stories about soldiers that stop fighting because it’s Xmas. What made them start up again? What went through the mind of the 1st soldier that fired the 1st shot after the Xmas break? Especially if the enemies interacted in a personal way during the temporary break.
